Ridden hard, put up wet

I haven't been really sick in I don't know when -- even the common cold has passed me by. But not this time. I have it bad and that's not good. It started last week with a non-painful scratchy throat. By Thursday, I was starting to feel really yucky, by Friday, I was sick as a dog (where did that phrase come from, anyway? I must Google it). Yesterday and today, well, welcome to the land of the living dead.

On Saturday, I made it to one match at my daughter's volleyball tournament before I had to come back home -- it was fortunate that this one was here in town. Today, she is in a wedding (lighting candles) for one of her former coaches -- I'm not at all sure I can even attempt to go. Not to mention it's quite chilly and raining here. Probably not a good thing for me to go out in, though cold and wet does not cause viruses and wouldn't necessarily make anything worse.

Well, one thing I can say is that I've been able to watch some stockpiled DVDs and some of my TiVoed shows. I watched JUNO this morning -- odd little movie -- but, then again, maybe it's the viral haze which is making everything seem pretty odd right now. Anyway, I don't think I'm any worse today than I was yesterday but hubby says I look worse -- but that may just be the wear and tear. My lips are chapped, my sides hurt from coughing, my eyes look like I've been on an all-nighter (an all night what, I don't know).

Anyway, we bought some Zicam in case anybody else starts to feel sick -- I've heard it really works, if you start it in enough time. I didn't try it because I figured I was too far gone. So, I shall endeavor to get better though it's not really in my hands. Just one of those things that has to be ridden out -- and I'm riding it out on my La-Z-boy recliner with my TiVo remote in one hand and something liquid in the other.

  2. That "Don" above is my husband--Google insisted on remembering his G-mail account and wouldn't let me comment in my own name! Anyway, I was trying to say that I hoped you feel better!

  3. Thanks, Susan -- this is really kicking my butt. I hope when I wake up tomorrow, things will be much better.
