Ah, Wilderness!

I discover books in many ways -- some by recommendations, some by reviews, some by putting my hands on them in the bookstores and having them speak to me (buy me, buy me!!). INTO THE WILDERNESS, however, I read because I'd heard there was a wee mention of Jamie and Claire (Diana Gabaldon's OUTLANDER series) contained within the pages. Like many women who are besotted with Jamie Fraser, I was drawn to anything which might mention that too-good-to-be-true Scotsman and his time-traveling wife -- but, when I read INTO THE WILDERNESS, I discovered a whole new world -- Jamie or no. Sara Donati (aka Rosina Lippi) does an excellent job of writing about the upstate New York Bonner clan, during the years after the Revolutionary War and beyond. I fell for Nathaniel Bonner just as hard as I did for Jamie Fraser and that takes some doing. A reissue of INTO THE WILDERNESS is now available in paperback (with a stunning new cover). It's a great chance for new readers to discover an older series (5 books, with a 6th on the way).

Speaking of Jamie Fraser, I've written a story called FINDING JAMIE FRASER -- it's not about Jamie and Claire but about a woman who moves to Scotland after the end of her marriage to find herself but in the process...well, you get the picture. It's an adult story so, if you want to read it, you'll have to ask permission (use the forum link above or the link to FJF in the right-hand column). At the moment, I'm re-editing and updating the story but it's still available (in it's older version) as I'm doing that.

  1. I started reading the Wilderness series for the same reason, but it is now one of my favourites!
